In her hit Showtime series Yellowjackets , Christina Ricci’s character Misty— An eccentric and devious nurse – wearing a wardrobe that is far from glamorous. (Think: Lots of scrubs.) So for this week’s 2022 Emmys in Los Angeles, Ricci seems ready to go all out.
After all, she’s nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series – and she needs a shiny red carpet like she’s on the show. “My Emmy night was really good. There were so many peers that I loved seeing and catching up with,” Ricci told Vogue. “And some actors I’ve always loved that I’ve finally had the chance to meet. I’m so grateful for my series Yellowjackets and my character Misty.”
In collaboration with stylist Alexandra Mandelkorn, Ricci’s sparkly evening looks include a body-hugging sequined sleeveless dress from Fendi’s Fall 2022 Haute Couture collection (it It even comes with a sequined evening bag!). It turns out that there is a special bond between Ricci and Fendi’s creative director, Kim Jones: He’s a close friend and godfather to Ricci’s daughter. “Wearing one of [Jones’] pieces is really special to me,” Ricci said. “One of the most unique things about this dress is its ombré effect, which Fendi achieved by hot-rolling sequins. This makes the dress super light. It looks like the dress is beaded, which would make it heavy, but Because of what they did with sequins, it was light.”
She used a pair of bronze Lace-up Stuart Weitzman heels and jewelry from Jessica McCormack and Reza adorned the disco-ball dress. For glam, makeup artist Allan Avendano and hairstylist Mark Hampton leaned further toward the party prep studio 54 vibe. Hampton perfected the sleek bob, while Avendano opted for sultry eyes.
Now that the Emmy spectacle is over, Richie is back working on the second season of the Yellow Jackets . As for what we can expect next? “I look for projects that delve into the interesting parts of humans and their nuances and behaviors—and I had to do that with Misty,” Ricci said. “The casting and writing appealed to me, and a character like Misty — who keeps the audience guessing who she is and what she’s going to do next — challenges me to keep things fun and cool. For season two, you have to Watch to find out.”
