Crunchyroll to lay off about 85 people worldwide



Anime Streaming ServiceCrunchyroll laid off approximately 85 employees last week. The layoffs include staff in the United States, Moldova, France, Germany and Australia and mainly affect the company’s marketing and engineering departments, according to an employee with knowledge of the recent layoffs. The sources did not know if the layoffs would only affect full-time employees or include contractors.

Funimation Global Group completed a review of AT&T’s Crunchyroll on August 9 Acquisition, 2020, after the company first announced the acquisition in December 2020. The purchase price is US$1.85 million, to be paid in cash at closing. Funimation‘s home video releases are now listed under Crunchyroll.
