Dak Prescott vows Cowboys will bounce back next season

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott after his team was knocked out of the playoffs by the 49ers on Sunday night , has begun to look to the future and made a solemn oath for the 2023 season. It all started when he was asked why Dallas couldn’t overcome the proverbial NFC divisional woes.

“If I had the answers, we would have won tonight. Too early. Too soon,” Prescott said. “But I promise you we will. For the time I’ve played for this team, for this organization, we will. Yeah, it sucks to be 365 days away from being back in this position, but we have to one day. Take it day by day, step by step, that’s what I’m going to do. I know that’s me. I’m going to respond the right way. As I said, when we got this team in line, the guy we came back, Coach, we’re going to do what’s necessary to get back here and win next time.”

Since his rookie season in 2016, Prescott led the Cowboys to four playoff appearances . In each of those appearances, his teams have failed to advance to the NFC Championship Game. But that dry spell predates Prescott’s entry into the organization. The last time the Cowboys won a conference title was after the 1995 season, when they went on to win Super Bowl XXX.

Prescott also takes some of the blame for his performance in Sunday’s 19-12 loss and his struggles this season. Prescott is tied for the most interceptions in the NFL this season with 15, and he threw two picks against San Francisco.

“I’m disappointed with the way I played,” he said. “Those guys in the locker room gave everything. Both sides of the ball. And made it possible for me to win games. And I couldn’t do that. And, yeah, I mean, I put it on my shoulders … when you’re in this position, when you’re playing for this organization, you have to accept that. That’s the reality of it. As I said, it’s going to make me better.”
