UFC President Dana White was not impressed with Merab Dvalishvili after UFC 278.
Merab had the biggest fight of his professional MMA career to date on August 20th. He fought one-on-one with future UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo. Dvalishvili is the sixth-ranked UFC bantamweight, while Aldo is third. In the quiet battle, Aldo could do nothing. Merab won by unanimous decision.
After UFC 278, Dana White made it clear that he doesn’t take Merab’s performance very seriously (via Helen Yee).

“I don’t think Mehrab helped me a lot tonight.”
It’s likely that Dana wasn’t too happy with Mehrab’s postgame speech either. If there’s one big annoyance for Dana, it’s that the warriors don’t want to fight each other because they’re friends.
Talking to Joe Rogan, Mehrab made it clear that he would never be with current UFC bantamweight champion Ajaman Sterling (Aljamain Sterling) confrontation.
In 2021, he told MMAJunkie that this fight is not going to happen.

“We are good friends and we will not fight each other. Alcho is the champion. I am sure he will defend his belt, And will be a champion for a long time. I have to win a few more fights to fight for the title, but we’ll figure something out (if I get there). But one thing is for sure: we’ll never fight. Me and Arjo, we will never fight each other.”
Sterling also confirmed on his Twitter account that fans will never see him sharing the octagon with Merab.
“After Merab’s next win, I might Had to move up and give him a chance to win his chances and make history for Georgia and win a world title. We’ll figure it out.”
