David Fincher responds to 'Zodiac' critics: 'This is the book we bought'

David Fincher 90 Movies Zodiac has been well-received by critics and has a 90% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but some are still disappointed by the film’s lack of resolution.

There have been many theories about Zodiac’s identity, and some viewers may want a more definitive ending, or insight into a still-unsolved mystery that has plagued people for decades.

at a recent Tribeca Music Festival panel with Steven Soderbergh On, Fincher recalls, “When Zodiac came out people said, ‘Why don’t you go down this rabbit hole? Why don’t you just go down the Graysmith rabbit hole?'”

“That’s the book we bought,” he said, interrupting his own question. “We didn’t buy everyone’s book about the zodiac.”

In fact, Fincher’s movie was based on Robert Graysmith’s book, Robert Gray Smith is a newspaper cartoonist played by Jake Gyllenhaal who becomes increasingly obsessed with the zodiac signs. The identity of the Zodiac killer. Written by James Vanderbilt, the film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chloe Sevigny, John Carroll Lynch and Anthony Edwards.

Fincher responded to a fan comment about making projects involving real people (including people who are still alive), such as his Facebook origin film The Social Network , and his Mindhunter series.

“It’s your responsibility to make sure you say what you want to say, because chances are they can decorate you at the airport,” Fincher said broadly. “So you keep your sanity and do it wisely. Making movies about things that are taken away from the headlines is a slippery slope. I think it’s important to be responsible, and in the same way you have to entertain the audience.”1235517180 1235517180
