'Dear Mama' sets FX record for unscripted series debut

FX’s documentary series Dear Mama hits a record high in the premiere of the Disney-owned unscripted series.

The Chronicles of the Lives of Tupac and Afeni Shakur, Premiere April 000, Via Welcome to Wrexham was FX’s highest-grossing unscripted debut among cross-platform audiences. Per FX Policy, full cross-platform figures were not released, but the majority of Dear Mama’ viewers likely watched the show on Hulu.

The two-episode premiere of Dear Mama, directed by Allen Hughes, averages about 271 ,000 Premiere viewers (the first episode attracted 185,).
