“It’s all about their natural beauty: whatever their skin color, whatever their nationality, and the power that every type of girl has,” says Philips, whose approach focuses on For plump, luminous, dewy skin and thoughtfully puffed brows (Karo of it all). Instead of creating thick brows, Philips relies on Diorshow Onset Brow as a frame of reference to give brows a more natural finish. “Once you do the brows, they feel more confident. They don’t look flirty—it’s a strong look without being overbearing.”
As it turns out, The Mexico City show couldn’t have come at a better time. “The eyes have been really strong in the last few shows,” said Philips, noting that Maria Grazia herself prefers a more dramatic look in her personal makeup. “I’ve done a lot of variations on the smoky eye, and for this show we thought, ‘Maybe let’s do something a little less extreme.'”
