Once again, this time in a dynamic reality show . The studio partnered with Dwayne Johnson, Live-action remake of Animated Musical A sensation.
Johnson plans to return to the role of Maui, the great wind and sea demigod. He will produce through his Seven Bucks Productions. Jared Bush, who wrote the screenplay for the original film, is back to write the remake. There was no director involved at this stage of development.
Disney CEO Bob Iger and Johnson shared the news Monday at Disney’s annual shareholder meeting.

Moana gets inspiration from Polynesian mythology, tells the story of a young woman who defies her father, the chief of an island dealing with looming ecological disaster, and sets out on a quest to reconnect with its master. Reunited with the mysterious remains of a goddess named Te Fiti. Along the way, she frees Maui from an island prison, is captured by a giant crab, and finds the strength to become the chieftain her father thought she could be.
Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the original series, will executive produce alongside Scott Flynn Films’ Sheldon
John Musker and Ron Clements James directed the original film, which was co-written by Clements, Musk, Chris Williams, Don Hall, Pamela Ribon, Aaron Kandel and Jordan Kandel. Bush is the only screenwriter.
Lin-Manuel Miranda was instrumental in the production of the song along with Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina. Johnson has a catchy tune, the catchy “You’re Welcome,” written by Miranda. Another song, “How Far I’ll Go,” was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song.
The film was a hit with audiences and critics, earning over $21 Millions worldwide, nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Film, losing out to compatriot Disney Films, Zootopia .
Disney pioneered the adaptation of its classic animated films into Strategies for live action movies.
