NBC has confirmed the cast for a holiday movie starring country music icon Dolly Parton .
Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas will also star as Tom Everett Scott, Ana Gastel and Angel Parker. It will also feature guest stars Jimmy Fallon , Willie Nelson , Mike Leigh and Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmy Allen and Zach Williams.
The broadcast network announced the film in May as part of its pre-release presentation. A premiere date has yet to be set, but it will presumably air sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Mountain Magic Christmas has been described as a “modern cinematic musical” featuring the frenetic behind-the-scenes stories and shots that go into making the TV special. When Dolly tried to make a show to share the “magic in the mountains” she always found around Dollywood at Christmas, she “found herself guided by the mysterious appearance of her personal three wise mountain men, embarked on a private journey into the past”, according to the film’s lines. “When her big special aired, a refreshed and inspired Dolly went rogue, showing the world that the true magic of Christmas lies in the hearts of our once-children, realizing that Christmas is about those we all share and how her faith is a common thread between past, present and future Christmases.”
Warner Bros. Television is working with Magnolia Hill Productions and Sandollar Productions on the film. David Rambo is writing the film, and Joe Lazaroff will direct. Parton executive produces alongside Sam Haskell, Rambo, Lazarov and Hudson Hickman. Billy Levin serves as producer.
