Actors often keep things traditional on the red carpet—that is, they mostly choose between suits and tuxedos. Sometimes, they throw a funny curveball, like Wesley Snipes wearing Bermuda shorts to the Oscars. But overall, man make it timeless. That was mostly the case at tonight’s SAG Awards, though Eddie Redmayne spiced things up. The actor, nominated for his performance in The Good Nurse, emerged from one of the best menswear shows of the season.
Redmayne kept it stylish with his bottoms paired with high-waisted black dress pants, but for the top, he wore a crisp white dress shirt with a tie bow at the neckline. It added a touch of drama to the look, even though the rest of the costume was reasonably pared back. No belts, no fancy jewelry: the tie is the focal point. Even his choice of shoes is fresh. Instead of standard lace-up oxfords, he wore a pair of patent pointed heels.
The look was designed by Harry Lambert from the Saint Laurent fall
menswear show, which debuted in Paris last month. Designer Anthony Vaccarello delivered one of the best shows of the season with a sophisticated collection that was well-tailored, minimal and striking. Redmayne has chosen one of the most memorable ensembles – and he totally owns it.
