Emma Watson on why she took a hiatus from acting: 'I feel a little caged'

Emma Watson is opening up about why she gave up acting.

In an interview with *)Financial Times, Watson reflects on why since Greta Gerwig’s

Little Women , filmed at the end of .

“I’m not very happy, I feel like I’m kind of caged, to be honest,” she said.

“What I found really difficult was I had to go out and sell something that I really couldn’t control. Standing in front of a movie where every reporter could say, ‘It’s the same as What does your opinion matter? “It’s hard for me to be the face and the voice of something that I’m not part of the process,” she explains.

Watson continued, “The way I was being held accountable I started to get really frustrated because I didn’t have a voice, I didn’t have a voice. Up front, if someone is going to criticize me, I can say it in a way that doesn’t make me hate myself, ‘Yeah, I screwed up, it was my decision, I should have done better.’”

Harry Potter After the film franchise, Watson continued to star in The Perks of Being a Wallflower,The Bling Ring,Beauty and the Beast, Circles and Little Women , the last film to be nominated for six Oscars.

While away from acting, Watson began experimenting with writing and directing. Last winter, she wrote and directed the Prada ad campaign. “People always tell me I should direct and produce, even when I’m in Potter,” she said. “I’m worried it’s just a technical issue, not a creative one, and I’m not able to play with what I think might be my skill set. … Being a director seems out of reach. I don’t think I have any confidence in that. I know it looks very Weird. I mean, I grew up on movie sets.”

Watson also joked that she was asked to direct a music video, but she wouldn’t say anything more than a hint Whose music video is this, “You must have heard of him.”

Despite not acting in nearly five years, Watson hasn’t ruled out a return to the silver screen. “Yeah, exactly. But I’d love to sit back and wait for the next right thing. I love what I do. It’s finding a way to do it without me having to break myself down into different faces And people. I just don’t want to switch to robot mode anymore. Does that make sense?”
