Emma Watson’s Carry-On Bag Is Filled With Items Both Practical and Poetic

As a frequent flyer between the United States and London (her latest trip is for the upcoming Vogue World event), Emma Watson puts a lot—and a lot of faith—in her carry-on Prada backpack. First and foremost: her passport, held in an eye-watering bright blue case: “So I cannot lose this,” she explains of the color choice. (But just in case she does, there’s an Airtag in there too.)

Indeed, the bag is filled to the brim with practical items. There are multiple bottles of Zicam, the over-the-counter zinc spray that claims to shorten colds. (“Even if it’s a placebo, it’s working on me,” she says of the CVS staple.) There’s a midnight blue Sleepmaster mask, which Watson loves so much that she’s convinced all her family and friends to buy it as well. “You can basically put me on the floor in one of these and I will be able to sleep,” she raves. If she roots around deep enough, she can also unearth hand wipes, Altoids, and AirPods.

Yet according to Watson, she’s also a bit “emo”—so there are plenty of things that are deeply personal to herself as an artist. A journal, for example, has pages filled with affirmations, manifestations, and reflections. (Every day, she explains to Vogue, she tries to write three things from the day before that she found fun or joyful, three things that happened that were kind, and three things that she thought she did well.) There’s a worn copy of T.S. Eliot’s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, which was given to her by The Perks of Being a Wallflower author Stephen Chbosky. And finally, there’s a deck of tarot cards for her daily reading—which she then does on camera.
