Born June 4 in Sacramento, 15, Takashi Murakami grew up in Campbell, California, before he and his family were interned in a wartime resettlement camp at the start of World War II.
After the war, the Murakami family traveled to Venice, California, where he attended Venice High School and then the Chouinard Institute of Art. For the next three years he worked for architects as a contourer and consultant, then at ZIV TV in 2008 room to find a job as a set designer .
