Ernie Hudson is releasing Psych EffectsGhostbusters in his body.
In an interview with SiriusXM’s Gary Dell’Abate and Rahsaan Rogers on The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show,
Hudson explained that while he has a lot of love and admiration for Ivan Reitman and his fellow Ghostbusters, the studio is a different story.
“I was the one who was brought in, so I found my place in it—they were all warm and accommodating,” the actor recalls joining Throw . “The studio wasn’t, and the studio still isn’t. So that made things very, very difficult because I was a part of it, but then I was pushed aside very selectively.”
On the radio show, Hudson shared an example of how the studio wasn’t very supportive, noting that he wasn’t on the movie poster.
“It took a long time. I went to the movie’s 30 anniversary, all The posters are all three people,” he continued. “Now I know the fans see it differently, and I’m very thankful to the fans because the fans basically identify with Winston, especially the young people, and I don’t want to say minority kids, but a lot of kids.”
The actor explained that negotiations are currently underway for a new Ghostbusters movie, which will begin in March Filming, he made sure he wasn’t considered an “add-on”.
“If I’m going to do it, it has to make sense,” Hudson said. “When you start a business, I’m always told that success is next to impossible. But if you take a blockbuster movie from a big studio and it comes out and goes to #1, it’s going to change your career. Well, Ghostbusters didn’t do anything for me. I’ve been working non-stop and I filmed Ghostbusters
He went on to explain that Winston’s role in the film There was a change from when he first got the script to when they actually started filming. His character is introduced at the very beginning. By the time production started, Winston came in midway.
“It’s not an easy road. Ghostbusters , I would say, from psychology It’s probably the most difficult movie I’ve ever done, from a standpoint,” he continued. “All of that stuff… was definitely intentional. And I still don’t want to take it personally.”
Hudson concluded, “Anything bad, if You’re an African American in this country, and anything bad happens to you, you can always blame it because I’m black. You don’t want to be there. That’s the last thing I want to do..I’m sorry for anyone People have nothing to say but it was hard. It took me years to get over it and enjoy this movie and embrace this movie. Ghostbusters is really hard to reconcile with.”
