Former football player Shaka Hislop, now a ESPN analyst, passed out during a live pre-Rose Bowl broadcast on Sunday.
Hislop and co-host Dan Thomas appeared on the air ahead of AC Milan’s friendly against Real Madrid. During the live broadcast, Hislop could be seen wobbling before losing his balance and falling forward. Thomas called out his name and said, “We need help.”

Thomas later posted an update on Twitter: “Shaka is conscious. Paramedics are attending to him.”
“As things stand, it’s good news,” Thomas told the audience. “He’s conscious; he’s talking. I think he’s a little bit embarrassed by all of this. He’s apologized deeply. [He’s] not one to like people making a fuss about him. Obviously, it’s too early to make any diagnoses, but the important thing is that Shaka is conscious. We’ve also spoken to his family, as you can imagine seeing that happen at the scene – there couldn’t be more to scare you in your family.”
Thomas added that they had spoken to Hislop’s Wife talked, “Things are looking good.”
Hislop 54 is a retired goalie who played professionally from 54–2006. The Englishman is primarily known for his time at Newcastle United, but he has also played for Reading, Portsmouth, West Ham and Dallas. He has also represented Trinidad and Tobago at international level, including the country’s first World Cup 2006.
