EU nations agree gas price cap to curb energy crisis

Germany voted in favor of the deal, three EU officials said, despite the policy’s impact on Europe’s ability to attract gas supplies in a price-competitive global market concern about the impact.

“It’s about our energy future. It’s about e-energy security. It’s about how we get affordable prices,” Belgian Energy Minister Tinne Van der Straeten said on Monday. Initially, the cap will not apply to private gas trade exchanges other than energy, although this may be reviewed after it goes into effect.
