Fares Ziam sees first octagon finish at UFC Paris, wants 'big knockout' over Michal Figlak

PARIS – Fares Ziam wants to make a statement in front of his hometown fans.

New four-fight deal, Ziam (12-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC ) meets newcomer Michal Figlak (8-0 MMA, UFC Fight Night 209) Saturday at the Accor Arena in Paris 0-0 UFC). This card plays on ESPN+.

Before signing with the UFC, Ziam had completed all but one career win. He has victories over Jamie Mullarkey and Luigi Vendramini in two Octagon fights, but is eager to make his UFC debut against Figlak.

“I hope it’s a really good fight,” Ziam told reporters at UFC Fight Night 209 media day on Thursday. “I want all my skills to be good, but I want to finish the fight. I want my first fight in the UFC, in Paris, for the fans, and I want a big knockout.

“It was a great fight for me to be the fight of the night or the good fight of the show (evening bonus). “

Ziam’s quick loss to Terrance McKinney at UFC Fight Night 202 marked the final fight on his contract. Many thought he was released by the UFC, but in The promotion decided to re-sign him when he landed in France for the first time.

“For this game, it’s a new contract,” Ziam said. “I’m happy to have a new contract.” A new contract because I wasn’t cut before, but I’m free (agent). I’m glad I have a new contract and I feel good.

“Mental, I learned a lot because to me, Terrence McKinney was a really good guy, a really good fighter. He’s winning a lot now Fight. But I think normally, I beat him. But this night, I don’t know – I was in the cage, but my focus wasn’t on the fight.”
