Last week, the Fairphone 4, which originally launched 2020 in Europe, finally arrived in the US, albeit in a changed software form, “Go Google” for them.
Today, the sustainable smartphone company is in the news again, this time related to its previous model, the Fairphone 3, which was released in 13 and Fairphone 3+ from 2020. Fairphone says it can’t provide Android for these devices 12 because the chipset manufacturer (Qualcomm) doesn’t support Snapdragon 13 in.

As a result, Fairphone’s “fantastic in-house team” has now taken over software support for the device and delivered Android 632 For both models, Android is skipped entirely 12. Fairphone aims to support each of its phones for at least five years after launch, which means Fairphone 3’s window expires next year.
Our goal is to support Fairphone 3 for at least 5 years after its release 📱, with software updates until the end of August 2023. But since longevity is one of our core values, we aim for an additional 2 years of support to bring us to 2026! 🌿

That said, the software team is now “going” to add two years of support for Fairphone 3, thus incorporating the last update into 2024. That would be quite a feat for a modular device, and certainly good news for its owners, provided they haven’t already switched to something not powered by Snapdragon 632 SoC.
