Tamika Etheart has been hired to lead the New York operations of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , The Hollywood Reporter has been informed. Beginning August , the former Director of Membership and Events at the Paley Center for Media will serve as Director of Membership Relations and Global Outreach in New York.
Erica Babrenburg has also been hired and will serve under Etheart as Senior Coordinator of Membership Relations and Global Outreach in New York. She came to the Academy from Max and started her role last week.
These moves follow Patrick’s departure earlier this year Followed by Harrison , a long-time College employee, formerly Director of Programs and Membership in New York and later Vice President of Membership Relations and Global Outreach, popular with Tri-State members. At the time, some members expressed displeasure over Harrison’s “disappearance” and the lack of transparency about some of the other issues affecting members in New York.
Soon after, the college retained Meredith Shea serves as its Chief Membership, Influence and Industry Officer. She and her colleagues spent the next few months interviewing candidates to replace Harrison.
“I’m pleased to tell you that we’ve hired fantastic new team members for both positions,” Shea wrote to members of the New York area on Monday Said. She added: “Going forward, the New York office will report directly to me. We are very excited to continue to operate in New York and celebrate film and build community with you all.”
