Florence Pugh says she cut her own hair for 'a good person': 'Finding it's really liberating'

Florence Pugh proves she’s not afraid to take scissors and cut her hair for a role.

“I was like, ‘Zach, I think I should cut my hair off at the beginning of the movie.’ And he said, ‘The beginning of the movie — cool. That’s OK It doesn’t make sense,'” she explained.

Pugh said the crew was worried about how they would make a good movie if she cut off her hair when filming started. Her response to this was, “You’ll figure it out.”

She added that the team had an important conversation and told Braff, “This is crazy. She can’t Do that. It doesn’t help at all.” The director tried to convince her to wear a wig, but she doubled down, saying again, “You’ll figure it out Yes.” And so they did.

In a recent interview with USA TODAY , the Midsommar actress said everyone on set was “very anxious” because they only took one shot to get it, But she “found it to be really liberating.”

She continued, “If anything, it’s like the last key to unlocking this character. It takes away the Vanity.”

Pugh also shared a personal connection to the scene, recalling a similarly impulsive moment as a teenager, as she “just looked in any direction except that Stuff makes me sad.”

“For me, whenever I was particularly low as a teenager, I would do a lot of quick fixes,” she said. “I’ll buy a manicure kit or scissors or something and go on YouTube and see how.”
