Fox has been updated (very) early for one of its upcoming animated series.
The network has acquired a Grimsburg Season 2, a comedy starring Jon Hamm – Lucky Detective. The series is an in-house production of Fox Entertainment and animation studio Bento Box, ordered by the network a year ago and will be released sometime at
Premiere .
“ Grimsburg is our unwavering commitment and great focus on maintaining the high standards any show must exceed , to live under the banner of animation domination,” Michael Thorne, president of Fox Entertainment, said in a statement. “Certainly, forwards and centers with the talent and star power of Jon Hamm are a great place to start. What we saw on Grimsburg Everything – from the original script and acting bible to the animation and preliminary editing – perfectly complements our animation brand by giving us confidence that we have winners on our hands.”
Given the animation program has a longer production cycle, and renewals prior to its debut are not uncommon. Fox has made similar moves in recent years with Great Northern and Dan Harmon’sKrapopolis.
In Grimsburg, Hamm voices Marvin Flut, who is described as “the greatest detective of all time who can catch a cannibal clown or properly identify a mid-century modern wardrobe. He still can’t Solve a mystery – himself.” To do so, he returns to the town of Grimsburg, where everyone hides secrets, and seeks redemption among his fellow detectives, his ex-wife and his son.
Catlan McClelland and Matthew Schlissel created the series and are co-executive producers. Chadd Gindlin (The Cleveland Show, Santa Clarita Diet) as showrunner and executive producer with Hamm; Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady of Jackal Group; and Connie Tavel.
