'From Scratch' creator on making a very personal Netflix series

4. Showrunner Spotlight

SiblingsAttica and Tembi Locke joins the show this week to discuss how to make Netflix’s from scratch. Limited collection based on Tembi’s real life story, inspired by her memoir of the same name. Zoe Saldana plays an American art student studying in Italy, and the show explores what happens when she falls in love with a local chef. Based on the life of Tembi, the series sees the sisters collaborate publicly for the first time, getting creative on the show and exploring the food and porn that Italy has to offer. Plus, Attica opens up about her “existential crisis” that led her to turn her back on Hollywood to focus on being a writer, and the experience — along with Lee Daniels and Empire – brought her back to the small screen.

As usual, each episode ends with Dan’s thoughts on what to watch (or skip) this weekend. This week, he’s featured on Amazon’s The Peripheral, Netflix’s From Scratch and IFC’s Sherman’s Showcase .
