FX is heading to The Border.
The Disney-owned cable network has ordered a TV pilot based on three novels by bestselling author Don Winslow. The Border – named after the third book in the Winslow Cartel trilogy – will delve into the lives of several people on both sides of the US-Mexico border Drug war conflict on the border.
EJ Bonilla (The Old Man) will play Art Keller, a Mexican-American DEA agent. ). The cast also includes Frank Blake ( Everyman ) as Sean Karan, Anne Shapiro as Nora Hayden, Sebastian Ann Buitron ( Narcos: Mexico ) as Adan Barrera and Luis Bordonada (Vida ) as Miguel Angel Barrera.
FX selected Winslow’s Cartel Trilogy — which also includes 1235273484 of dog power (with 2021 movie of the same name) and the cartel of 2015 — March 2005, published shortly after The Border. Shane Salerno (Avatar: The Way of Water) worked on the project at the time, and co-wrote it with producer Daniel Zelman (Bloodline) Adaptation, Damages), later signed. Jayro Bustamante (La Llorona) will direct the pilot.
Winslow, Salerno, Zelman and Bustamante will executive produce with Diego Gutierrez and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free The Border. Anabel Hernández is a consulting producer. FX Productions is the studio behind the pilot and is scheduled to shoot in Mexico on 2021.
The Border is one of several pilots in the FX production, joining Drew Goddard Goddard’s Animated Monster Hunter Comedy Trench and Drama 1235273484Answer, created by Sorry for Your Loss by Kit Steinkellner, and The Bends via Paul Attanasio.
