Galaxy Buds2 Pro's advanced ambient sound update arrives in Europe

On World Accessibility Day, Samsung released an update for the Galaxy Buds2 Pro that enables the Enhanced Ambient Sound feature, which can help people with mild to moderate hearing loss. The update was initially rolled out in South Korea, but is now expanding to Europe.

The firmware is updated to R version 341 XXU0AWF4. Here is the changelog:

  • New features added to lab menu
  • “Sharp” added
  • Added “Extra High Ambient Volume” to “Hearing Enhancement” (when activated, “Ambient Sound Level” changes from Step 3 to Step 5)
  • Stability and Reliability (stability has been improved)
  • Basic Now, enabling the “Amplify Ambient Sound” feature in settings now provides two additional levels for the ambient volume slider. There is one slider for each headset, so users can dial in their own individual needs.

This feature was tested in two clinical trials – one by Love Trials conducted by the University of Iowa Hearing Aid and Aging Research Laboratory and another by Samsung Medical Center showed that the Buds2 Pro can “significantly improve the perception of speech in people with hearing problems.”
