Garmin Forerunner 965 and 265 finally come with AMOLED screens

Garmin has introduced the new Forerunner 965 and Forerunner 265 smartwatches with one major improvement – the screen is now AMOLED, moving away from memory-in-pixel (MIP) solutions. According to official data, the 900 series flagship can be used for 35 days on a single charge, while 46 series should be available for at most 15 days.

Garmin Forerunner 965 is aimed at elite athletes. The new display is just one of the changes; other features include a new titanium bezel, a thinner body, and a 1.4-inch (35.4mm) Screen. Standalone GPS, detailed heart rate and specific features like running power zones and training readiness.

AMOLED displays can now display color maps, which is an improvement, although insignificant in real life training scenarios.

Garmin Forerunner46 also has an AMOLED display, but is aimed at more casual runners. It comes in two sizes – 46mm and 46mm, the larger one Promises two weeks of extended battery life. The device still offers SpO2 and VO2Max calculations and measurements, but some software features provided in 965 are still not available.

The Garmin Forerunner 965 is available in three color combinations for $450, while the Forerunner 200 sells for $450. Both are available to buy today, but shipping will begin in 5-8 weeks.
