Gateway's IndyCar: Start times, how to watch, entries and more

This will be the 14thth IndyCar race at World Wide Technology Raceway. The first was the 1997 CART series when Paul Tracy won the Penske-Mercedes-Benz, and in 2001 the track was converted to an Indy Racing League event with Al Unser Jr. winning in the G-Force – Oldsmobile by Galles Racing operations.

After 2003, the event was on hiatus until 2017, when Josef Newgarden won after a memorable elbow pass from Penske-Chevrolet teammate Simon Pagenaud into turn 1 . He has since had two more victories there and is the defending champion. Other former Gateway winners include Power, Sato, Dixon and Helio Castroneves, who won here back in 2003.

8 different winners in 15 IndyCar races in 2022: Josef Newgarden (4), Scott McLaughlin, Scott Dixon and Pato O’Ward (2), and Colton Herta, Marcus Ericsson, Will Power and Alexander Rossi. Ball currently leads the champions, just 6 points ahead of Dixon, 12 points ahead of Ericsson, 22 points ahead of Newgarden, 33 points ahead of defending champion Alex Palau, 58 points ahead of McLaughlin and 59 points ahead of Oward .

WWT Raceway debuts for Callum Ilott (Juncos Hollinger Racing) and Christian Lundgaard (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing), while fellow rookies Kyle Kirkwood, Devlin DeFrancesco, David Malukas have both raced on the road to Indy.

Meyer Shank Racing’s Helio Castroneves will race his 372nd IndyCar while Dixon will race his 303rd Running streak, the second longest winning streak in IndyCar history.
