Germans deported after substance check with Blue Jays
TORONTO — Domingo Germain was ejected Tuesday night against the Blue Jays, late in the fourth One inning, the umpires determined that the Yankees were right-hander with an illegal substance on their pitcher.
Germán pitched three perfect innings when he returned to the mound for the fourth inning when he was tackled by first base umpire DJ Reyburn, who checked the pitcher’s right hand and appeared to find goo.
Germán was sent off after a brief assembly by all four referees. Television replays also showed what appeared to be a dark substance on Germán’s trousers, near his right hip.

This is the German’s second brush with “sticky stuff” enforcement this season. During the game against the Twins in April, the referee checked Germán and the referee Think Germán has too much rosin on his bowler. He was instructed to wash off excess rosin and was allowed to remain in the game, which sparked an argument with Twins manager Rocco Baldelli, who was subsequently ejected.
