Second quarter and ruled out for the remainder of the game. A carriage was initially brought onto the pitch, but Thibodeau made his way to the touchline on his own. After being assessed in the medical tent, he returned to the locker room. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelisero, there is “initial optimism” that Thibodeau avoided major injuries. Thibodeau’s injury occurred when Bengals tight end Thaddeus Moss blocked him low and collided with his right knee. Thibodeau lay on the court for a while until medical staff attended to him. Despite being excluded from the game, he was seen walking around the sidelines, laughing with his teammates before heading to the locker room. With the No. 5 pick in this year’s draft, Thibodeau faces high expectations as New York’s future Charger . The 21-year-old recently told reporters that he hopes to break the franchise rookie record of 8.5 sacks set last year by Azeez Ojulari. Thibodeau has impressed his coaches and teammates throughout training camp. “I think he’s a special player,” Giants offensive line coach Bobby Johnson told Steve Selby of The New York Post . “I think he has all the tools and obviously that’s why he’s picked where he’s been picked. I see a hungry man, he’s been working…and he’s got a magnetic personality, I just see a great team member who knows his role and strives to be better every day. I appreciate his humility and work ethic.” While it doesn’t look like Thibodeau’s injury is serious, it is to be expected that the Giants will be careful with their precious draft pick.
