New Years, old clothes. Gisele Fetterman attended the swearing-in ceremony of her husband, Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, on Tuesday afternoon. Gisele, who is synonymous with modernity, wore a metallic dress with a tonal geometric print and sheer panels. Following the big moment, Gisele revealed on Instagram that she purchased some of her outfits from popular resale retailer Buffalo Exchange. Find? $12 Navy wallet featuring floral cross-stitch and initial ‘GB’.
The swearing-in by Vice President Kamala Harris follows a tight Senate race between the former lieutenant governor and Republican candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz. Not to mention, Senator Fetterman was recovering from a stroke at the same time.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Gisele has orchestrated and adapted Capitol Hill secondhand stuff. Back in November, Fetterman wore a blue $12 thrifted dress, leather jacket, and black leggings paired with stiletto boots for her first day in DC with her newly elected husband. In On Vogue podcast The Run Through, the former second lady of Pennsylvania recently ditched her self-styled nickname “SLOP” on social media – revealing that she is personally committed to Build and wear a wardrobe of at least 90% thrifty or recycled clothes.
It will be interesting to watch how Gisele Fetterman uses her ever-growing platform to shine a light on used or upcycled clothing. Her proud disclosure of her favorite vintage finds (and more importantly, their prices) goes a long way toward illustrating that affordable and accessible vintage clothing can belong in the rarest of spaces.
