Google Pixel Watch's January update fixes issues with 3rd-party watch faces

The Google Pixel Watch received its first OTA update in December, but there are still some bugs to fix. Google has now released the January update for the Watch and it will be rolled out gradually over the next week.

The major bug fixes for this release concern third-party watch faces – those that used to turn off after 15 minutes, even if you enable Always On Display (AOD) mode. This issue seems to be limited to older watch faces not using the new Jetpack watch face library. Anyway, this should now be resolved.

Update also includes January 5 security patch. You should note the firmware version RWD9.220429.23

(and ).J1

for Japan and Taiwan).

One change you won’t find in the official changelog is that fall detection has been hidden. This feature is not ready and has not been fully tested – showing up in the watch menu is a bug. Fall detection should actually be enabled in the next few months.
