Back in early September, Google released the first beta version for the upcoming Android 13 Quarterly Platform Release 1 (aka QPR1). Today, the company is following up with a second beta. There should be a third in November, followed by a stable release in December.
Google says Android’s second beta QPR1 comes with the app for 10 months 2022 security patches. The beta version gets these days after the stable trunk.
The new build number is T1B2. 220916., which comes with the Google Play Services version 22. 22.22. This release should include bug fixes and stability and performance improvements, although Google doesn’t have a more obscure changelog than this.
Even though the usual caveats apply to installing non-final software releases, these QPR betas should be more stable than the initial developer previews of new versions of Android, since they are betas after all. Also only three, and then the correct version.
Android 13 QPR1 Beta 2 for Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and pixel 6a. To join the Android Beta Program, enroll your eligible device on this site, and you’ll get this release as a software update, as well as subsequent beta and final releases.
