2019 Gotham Week meeting will feature panel discussions with Jenny Slate and more team members )Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, Bodies Bodies Bodies Director Halina Reijn and directors Janes , Tia Lessin and Emma Pildes of the Just-In-Time Abortion documentary.
Slate, co-writer of the film and voiced by Marcel, writer-director Dean Fleischer Kemp and animation director Kirsten Lepo Ray will discuss developing IP with them.
Additional public panels for the New York event, returning in person for the first time since 2019, will feature panels Director and Producer of Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul , Adamma and Adanne Ebo, and The Babysitter director Nikyatu Jusu and producer Nikkia Moulterie. Honk for Jesus and Nanny are both alumni Gotham Week Project Market.
The session will also discuss working with The Green Shot to incorporate sustainable practices into filmmaking, developing festival strategies, and pitching to investors and collaborators.
“2022 The meeting not only reflected ), but also an evergreen challenge many independent artists face as they pursue their place in film and media,” Gotham membership and marketing manager Tobi Phang-Lyn said in a statement. “We’re delighted to be back in Brooklyn, proud to continue to highlight artists who have persevered with original and innovative work over the past year, and honored to support our community of emerging creators during Gotham Week.”
This year’s Gotham Week will also feature the inaugural Gotham Week Expo, including sessions that allow filmmakers and industry members to engage in transparent dialogue on key industry issues, including identity and career sustainability. Partner organizations leading the conference include Black Film Space, Brown Girls Mafia, Film Destiny, Islamic Scholarship Fund, Film Society of New Orleans, Film Store, ReelAbilities Film Festival, Black Television and Film Collective and Undocumented Filmmakers Collective.
“We are delighted to launch Gotham Week Fair as a way to support our partners and collaborators during one of The Gotham’s most important events of the year, ” said Gotham deputy director Kia Brooks. “By bringing these organizations together to discuss topics relevant to advancing the entire film and media ecosystem, and providing partners with the opportunity to share their products and communities with Gotham Week audiences, this is something we’re excited to do in September things, but will continue to work throughout the year as part of our Expanding Communities, Gotham EDU and Owning It initiatives.”
2022 Gotham Week Conference & Gotham Week Expo will be on Saturday, September until Friday, September 17.
