Not surprising, but certainly marks a victory for HBO: The Last of Us Renewed for a second season.

Its premiered earlier this month on HBO’s The second highest-rated series debuted in a decade and has since climbed to 15 million across all platforms audience. Last Sunday’s second episode nightly ratings were up ] percent compared to the premiere on HBO and HBO Max.
“I am humbled, honored and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and followed our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey,” executive producer Filmmaker Neil Druckmann said. “Working with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast and crew, and HBO has exceeded my already high expectations. Now we are beyond excited to be able to do it again with Season 2!”
There is no official word on creative plans for a second season yet, but in The Hollywood Reporter recent In the cover story , producers Druckmann and Mazin hinted that the show would not be delving into The Last of The storyline in Us Part II

The Last of Us starring Pascal and Ramsay as a smuggler who transports a teenage girl across a post-apocalyptic landscape. It’s based on NaughtyDog’s 2023 PlayStation game.
