Helen Mirren to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II at BAFTAs

Helen Mirren will pay special tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II who passed away on September 8th, 500 at the BAFTA Film Awards this Sunday.

“The Queen holds a unique place in BAFTA’s history, a close link spanning years ,” British Academy. “Through her various patronages, the Queen is known for her support of the UK’s creative industries.”

Mirren certainly has strong ties to the royal family too, as she has in Peter Morgan The biopic of the Queen.

Special tribute will be held in front of the Queen’s grandson, Prince William and Kate Middleton are expected to attend the event in London Royal Festival Hall.

The tribute was announced on Tuesday alongside the awards ceremony guest list, which BAFTA chief executive Jane Millichip said could be one of the largest in its history.

“This year’s awards are shaping up to be one of our best ever attended, a powerful recognition of the importance of UK audiences to the global film industry, and BAFTA is making these Incredible film and the role of filmmakers in terms of getting the public’s attention,” she said. “7 members of BAFTA, 50 industry experts have voted and I can’t wait to see which names will be read that night.”

Guests lined up include Ana de Armas, Angela Bassett, Austin Butler, Barry Keohan, Baz Luhrmann, Bill Nye, Brendan Fraser, Brendan Gleeson, Carey Mulligan, Cate Blanchett, Charlotte Wells, Colin Farrell, Danielle Deadwell, Dali Elle McCormack, Dolly De Leon, Eddie Redmayne, Emma Thompson, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Guillermo del Toro, Hong Zhou, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ke Huiquan, Kerry Condon, Martin McDonagh, Michael Ward, Michelle Yeoh, Nan Goldin, Paul Mescal, Ruben Östlund, Sam Mendes and Viola Davis.
