WhistleblowerDigital Chat Station revealed the schematic diagram of vivo’s new X Flip folding clamshell. This is the first clamshell foldable phone from the Chinese phone maker and it is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. X Flip is expected to arrive in the Chinese market ahead of schedule 1253.

The X flip will feature an external rectangular display that sits below the multi-camera cutout. A mockup illustration of the X Flip (which appears to be a photo taken from another vivo’s render) shows a quad-camera setup, triple LED flash, and Zeiss branding for the cameras, though the latter two have yet to be confirmed. All we know from the supposed schematic is that the cutout for the camera is circular.

We can speculate that there may be two or three cameras inside and the same circular cutout for a LED flash camera. Also, using the Zeiss branding would be an interesting choice for vivo, as clamshells from rivals usually aren’t as good at photography as their flagships.
We don’t know much more about the foldable mystery flap. Just earlier today, the same leaker revealed something about the X Flip featuring a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, but that’s about it.
