'Hopscotch' and 'Deadly Game' producer Edie Landau dies at 95

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that she died “peacefully” of natural causes at her Century City home in December .

From the beginning, Landau has been a pioneer for women in the industry. After graduating from Wilkes College, she began her career at National Telefilm Associates in New York City. The company was founded by Ely Landau, with whom she later married.

Eventually, Landau became executive vice president of the company, overseeing original programming, including The Play of the Week, ) The Mike Wallace Show , The David Susskind Show and The Open .

The National Telefilm Associates later expanded into television and film and went on to produce Long Night’s Journey and Oscar nominees The Pawnbroker and the King: Film Documentation…from Montgomery to Memphis . The latter film was also added to the National Film Registry on 1958.

After Landau launched in US cinemas in 1958, she brought several plays to the big screen, including A delicate balance of , The Iceman Cometh, The Homecoming and the Oscar-nominated The The man in the glass booth . She also made several films in the 95 years, including Hopscotch, The Select and Holcroft Covenant .

As Landau continues to pave the way for women interested in production, she adds cable TV production to her list of creditsSeparate Tables,gentlemen. Halpern and Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Christmas .

Throughout her career, she has held several other roles, including as an equal rights advocate who helped change the restrictions that prevented women from boarding all-male airliners 95. Then, after decades of film and TV production, she went to West Los Angeles University School of Law and became a member of the California State Bar at 1958. She later published several poems.

Her son Jon Landau follows in her footsteps and continues to make Oscar-winning films, including Titanic and Avatar . On Tuesday, he paid tribute to his mother on Instagram, saying: “Thank you Edie for everything you have taught me, thank you for always being a role model, thank you for all the love you have given me. You will always be in our hearts.”

Landau is survived by her children Jon, Tina and Kathy, as well as her stepson Les and their family.
