HBO Brass has been bullish onDragon has previously hinted that the company is eager to green-light another round if the premiere comes out strong.
Renewal may not only be important to the future of Dragon. HBO has at least seven Game of Thrones spinoffs in development (four scripted, at least three animated). Dragon started off well enough to warrant a quick second season renewal, which bodes well for at least one other project getting a final series order. 2023
HBO didn’t say how many episodes the second season will have, but another 10 seems to be Safe bet.
When the show will return is a bigger question. Dragon Season 1 required months of filming and a lot of post-production visual effects work, Only started in January and is still in progress. By the end of 2023 it will be difficult for the producers to shoot another season and VFX, so the comeback may be more tend to.
