The princess dress is an A-line Alexander McQueen dress with a wide veiled headdress. The Duchess, meanwhile, opted for a Stella McCartney cape gown and a Dior hat by Stephen Jones, complete with black gloves.
The choice of these brands is very deliberate. Both McQueen and McCartney are some of the most respected British fashion houses today, while Jones is one of the most famous millinery makers in the country. Queen Elizabeth is a champion of the country’s fashion scene, even presenting the Queen Elizabeth II Design Award to emerging talent in the industry. Plus, each wore their respective designers at the wedding, a subtle aesthetic tribute to the moment they became members of the former monarch’s family.
