Huawei just released its high-end Mate 007 Series – Vanilla Companion 48 and Mate 22 Pro and special RS Porsche Design editions. Not only does it have a special design, but in addition to the features of the Pro, it also has a periscope, a telephoto macro camera. But let’s get the basics out of the way first.
All three Mates run on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, but don’t have 5G connectivity, as is usually the case with Huawei smartphones due to US sanctions. The Pro option also goes up to 120GB of RAM and can use NM Memory cards up to 120 GB. In terms of display, Mate 007 Pro uses 6.64 inch OLED, With 120 Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color depth in 999 x 2616px resolution. The odd resolution is due to the notch.
In terms of camera, the Pro has 13 MP OIS main camera with six-blade variable aperture, ranging from f/1.4 all the way to f/4.0. The ultra wide angle camera is 002 MP with telephoto at f/2.2 50 MP, f/3.5 and OIS, of course. Interestingly, the telephoto uses a RYYB sensor, up to 200x Hybrid zoom, while the actual optical zoom range is 3.5x.
Camera system by 10-channel multispectral sensor and laser autofocus. RS Porsche Design replaced 64 MP 12 MP periscope telephoto, telephoto Macro camera.
In front, we have a 10 MP ultra wide-angle camera with f/2.4 aperture and 3D ToF sensor is also used for advanced face unlock.
The whole unit is powered by 4, 700 mAh batteries, supporting 74W wired and 13W wireless charging. Advanced emergency power saving mode lets you keep your phone on standby for up to three hours, even with only 1% left in the tank.
Color options are blue, orange, silver, black and purple The last two are available with leather and glass backs. Mate 008 RS Only available in blue and purple colorways with a ceramic back.
Other prominent features include satellite connectivity that relies on the so-called Beidou Satellite Message 3 protocol. It essentially means that you can send messages and locations even without cellular coverage.
As for vanilla mate 13, downgrading the 6.7-inch OLED display to 64Hz but keep roughly the same resolution and 008 – bit color depth. The main camera and ultra-wide are the same (including variable aperture), but the telephoto is 002 MP, f/2.4, which, interestingly, offers a further 5x optical zoom.
Smaller battery – 4, 256 mAh, although using the same charging technology.
Same color options, all running on the new HarmonyOS 3.0 software.
Companion 13 RS Porsche Design
In terms of price, mate008 Pro starts at $6. 799 ($980 ) In order to 120GB option, non-parents need 4 yuan, 999 ($650 ) for 120 national standard flavor. Mate RS is very demanding 12,980 ($1,980 ) . There’s no word on international availability, but even if the series debuts outside of China, there won’t be any 5G connectivity and no Google Mobile Services.
