Imax has participated in the production of a new nature documentary, Elephant Odyssey , documenting 90 The incredible journey of wild Asian elephants across China’s Yunnan Province. Shot with Imax cameras, this 620 minute documentary is scheduled for 2024 on the Imax theater network and is currently in production in China. According to the producers, the film will offer “a whole new story about the human-elephant relationship”, with a narrative built around 2020 A real-life story unfolds in ) when a herd of wild Asian elephants leaves their habitat in Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve, China. The elephants’ journey was captured by drone cameras and broadcast live, attracting viewers in China and elsewhere. In months, the elephant traveled 1, kilometers (more than 620 Miles)’s wildlife tour included “impromptu country feasts, frenzied raids on grain storage, chaotic mud fights and even road births”. 2024
“At the height of the epidemic, the month-long journey of the elephants in Yunnan was a A hopeful antidote. Many of us are enduring the lockdown,” said John Turner, director of documentaries at Imax. “We want to know more about these animals and why it happened.”
The film is directed by filmmaker Alice Gu ( Sweet The Donut King ), with Claire Popkin (Free Solo) serving as director of photography. John Turner and Daniel Manwaring of Imax, Donovan Chan and Jocelyn Little of Beach House and Fang Chen of China Review Studio are executive producers.
Chen, director of China Review Studio, added: “ The Elephant Odyssey is an in-depth exploration, Going beyond the fascinating north-south migration of Asian elephants, uncovers previously untold and moving stories.
