The 32 year old studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Portland and went on to study at the world’s most Popular places to cook in prestigious kitchens include three Michelin stars Eleven Madison Square Garden and The NoMad, which had one Michelin star before closing 2015. He started a private catering business in 2015 before moving to bespoke events. Since then, he’s become the chef of choice for A-listers, cooking for celebrities including Rick Owens and the late Michael Williams. In November 2022, he curated a menu with Lupita Nyong’o for the De Beers Ambassador Dinner; that same month, he presented the Dior Guggenheim International Gala for Distinguished guest prepared the plate (dry-aged rib eye with burgundy truffle, potato parfait and beef gravy order of the day). Traore, who is 6-foot-5 with sharp cheekbones, has also modeled for Cole Haan, Louis Vuitton and Paul Stuart, among others.
Traore is a food and fashion buddy with a penchant for perfection – and says he has yet to adjust to the makeshift Ivorian lifestyle. “It’s like, first of all, you need to go to the market every morning and pick your stuff,” he said. “Secondly, you need to understand that langoustines are not always in stock, or that you will have different sizes of shrimp on different days. You have to disappoint your customers every day. That’s very insightful.”
