With only a few days until the 2023 Oscars, top contenders for Banshee of Inisherin Get promoted in hometown.
Martin McDonagh’s tragicomedy of the period – nominated for nine Academy Awards (an Irish record) – has now been nominated for the Irish Academy of the Year Most Movies Awards.
Announced by the Irish Film and Television Institute (IFTA), Banshees has nominations, including Best Picture, and like the BAFTAs and Oscars, the film’s lead actor, Colin Farrell (who was also nominated), was nominated in all acting categories Batman ), Brendan Gleeson, Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon in supporting roles. Banshees‘ 12 Nominations and Accumulated by Irish drama Quiet Girl , now also Oscar contender International category.
Further down, Frank Berry’s immigrant drama Aisha — by Letitia Lai Starring Letitia Wright and Josh O’Connor — Landing nominations. Other notable nominees include Paul Mescal, both Lead Actor in Aftersun and Supporting Actor in God’s Creatures, Jessie Buckley Talking Woman , Liam Neeson Marlowe and Alisha Weir, Matilda the Musical by Roald Dahl Young lead.
On TV, Sharon Horgan’s Apple TV+ comedy series Bad Sisters leads the way with 12 nominations, including Best Drama Nominations for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and almost the entire cast, including Horgan, Brian Gleeson, Daryl McCormack (also Good Luck to You, Leo Grande lead nominee), Michael Smiley, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Eve Hewson and Sarah Greene. The show featured four of the six supporting actresses.
