Nudity was rare at Cannes this year, but one attendee took the bold trend to a new level. After rocking a flossed Mowalola look on the red carpet – picked from the designer’s fall2023 collection – Irina Shayk at BritishVogue Party at Hotel Martinez, organized in collaboration with Chopard, in extreme nudity. Monogrammed Gucci bras, including triangle bras and thongs, were fully visible under tailored blazers. For maximum drama, she added a crystal necklace and matching earrings, and painted a matte red lip. In the evening, she removed her blazer to reveal sheer opera gloves, which complemented the sheer stockings she wore under black strappy sandals.
The see-through dress has become something of an icon for Shayk. At the Croisette, she cut voluminous dresses and embellishments in an all-leather silhouette. “I’m always on the lookout for young designers and Mowalola’s last show caught my eye,” she told Vogue. “I knew I wanted to wear and support a female designer in Cannes and I thought the look fit perfectly – it felt special.”
