Starfield is one of the biggest games of the year and space exploration has never looked so good (especially on a new PC with the correct settings tweaked). Released natively for PC and Xbox Series X, a lot of gamers are going to be left out of Bethesda’s latest RPG — it’ll never be released on PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch. But there’s good news if you’re still playing on a last-gen Xbox One. While Starfield isn’t being released on the older console directly, there’s still a way to play on Xbox One.
There are also a few other ways to play Startfield without an Xbox at all.
How to play Satrfield on Xbox One
To play Starfield on Xbox One, you’re going to have to pay for a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate — this will give you access to Xbox Cloud Gaming and allow you to stream Starfield even though your older console wouldn’t be able to handle it.
If you have a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, navigate to the Game Pass menu by selecting My Games & Apps from your home screen, followed by Apps, and then the Xbox Game Pass app. You’ll be able to find Starfield in the Game Pass menu (you can also search for it). Select the game and you will see the option to Play with a cloud icon. Choose this, Starfield will start booting up, streaming to your console from a Microsoft server.
To have a pleasant cloud gaming experience, you’ll need to have a fast and stable internet connection. Even though Starfield is an offline experience, you need a connection to stream this next-gen game to your older console.

Where to get the Narwhal spaceship in Starfield
Among the dozens of ships you can find, buy, steal, and even create yourself in Starfield, there’s one that stands out as one of the best you can get without spending hours designing one yourself with the best weapons and parts. The Narwhal may have an ugly name, and an appearance to match, but don’t judge this book by its cover. This ship has some amazing stats that make it well worth the sticker price. Having enough Credits to buy it is only half the trouble, though. If you want to become the captain of your very own Narwhal spaceship in Starfield, you’ll need to know where to get it.
How to get the Narwhal
The Narwhal is sold at Taiyo Astroneering inside of the Ryujin Industries building on Neon. Neon is a major hub city, but if you haven’t been there yet or need a refresher, it is inside the Volli system to the right of Olympus. Once on Neon, find the big red Ryujin Industries building on the promenade and head to the elevator in the back. Select the Yaiyo Astroneering floor, which is one level above the Lobby, and go up to the right into the Show Room. Speak with Veronica and ask to see what she’s got for sale.

The best RPGs for Xbox Series X
If there’s one genre the Xbox series of consoles has struggled to really break into in the past, it’s RPGs. Yes, each system had a standout title or two, like the original Xbox having Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the 360 having Lost Odyssey, but this particular family of consoles was always seen as secondary to RPG fans compared to Sony, or even Nintendo, machines. With the release of the Xbox Series X, Microsoft has made a strong effort to fill that gap in their library and has already done a great job of publishing, or at least supporting via Game Pass, some of the best RPGs in recent memory.
What counts as an RPG today covers a wide range of games. They can be turn-based, real-time, action-focused, narrative-focused, first-person, and more. So many games incorporate RPG elements now that it can be a little tough to find one that doesn’t anymore. However, for this list, we’re picking only games that are RPGs at their core, or at least have it as the main component rather than a game that just throws in progression bars and nothing else. Still, that leaves a lot of ground to cover. If you’re feeling the itch for a new RPG to play on your Xbox Series X, we’ve picked out the best from a range of titles that should fill the exact experience you’re looking for.

Best Xbox Game Pass deals: Upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate for cheap
Xbox Game Pass is a fantastic way to play tons of games for cheap. It’s also the only way you’ll get to play online multiplayer on your Xbox Series X or Series S. It’s fairly cheap and gets you access to a lot of content, but you can still find great Game Pass deals that will help you save some money. Below we’ve listed all the deals we could find. Right now that’s just on the Game Pass Ultimate tier, but we’ve listed out the prices and benefits of all the tiers anyway, just in case you don’t need to get the full subscription.
Xbox Game Pass Core — $10 per month
If you have Xbox Live Gold, your subscription is about to get folded into Microsoft’s newer Game Pass system. Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are about to become Game Pass Core subscriptions. In many ways it’s the same thing, and in some ways it’s better. Game Pass Core is the cheapest tier of Game Pass, but it still lets you access important features, including online multiplayer. Game Pass Core is launching with access to 36 games off the bat, and you can get exclusive discounts on certain downloadable games. The switch from Xbox Live Gold to Game Pass Core will be automatic.
