New York Islanders linebacker Sebastian Aho was arrested in Sweden on Aug. 13 for DUI.

( This was confirmed by Ethan Sears, who also pointed out that Aho’s driver’s license was revoked as a result. Per Sears, Aho and his wife visited friends on vacation the night before. He was arrested at 10:30 a.m. local time after being stopped at a checkpoint. “I deeply regret and learned from this mistake and will never drive again the next day now,” Aho told Norran (h/t Sears).
Aho’s agent Claude Lemieux provided a statement via text message postal.
” He didn’t know that by the next morning he would still be over the limit and feel 100%, but unfortunately he committed made a mistake and he is very sorry!” Lemieux wrote.
Aho was also fined SEK 40,000 (US$3,769) per person

Lou Lamariello, president and general manager of Islanders hockey operations, issued an official statement Wednesday.
“We were immediately informed about Sebastian Aho’s situation. We have a copy of the police report showing his blood alcohol level was 0.03, which is 0.01 higher than the 0.02 set by Swedish law.
“Sebastian for his Sorry for the mistake, and as an organization we will work with him to make sure this doesn’t happen again. “
Aho represented Jr. last season The island played 36 games and scored 2 goals and 10 assists. The 25-year-old Aho renewed his contract with the team for two years in the offseason.
