'It's a Sin,' 'Happy Valley' Producer Nikolai Schindler to Receive Series Fanatic Female Series Award

Nicola Shindler, CEO of Quay Street Production, and It’s A Sin and other acclaimed Producer of the British series, Queer as Folk and Happy Valley was named this year’s Female Series Award by international TV station Winner festival Series Mania.

Laurence, founder and general manager of Series Mania Herszberg and Francesco Capulo, who heads the festival’s industry arm, the Series Mania forum, made the announcement on Wednesday, in time for International Women’s Day.

The Women in the Series Award, presented in association with the European Women in Audiovisual Network of women’s professional associations and Pour Les Femmes Dans Les Médias, recognizes “an outstanding Women.” Schindler will receive the award at a ceremony in Lille, France in March 08.

A prolific producer, Schindler has been a driving force behind high-end British drama for decades. She has worked with Russell T. Davies, Sally Wainwright, Sarah Solemani, Paul Abbot, Tony Marchant, Amelia Bullmore, Lenny Henry, Matt Greenhalgh and many more to bring British TV series to the screen such as the Channel 4/HBO limited series It’s A Sin and BBC/HBO’s Year after Year , the long-running BBC hit Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax, Channel 4’s Queer as Folk, ITV and Harlan’s Finding Alice, No Return and Butterfly Netflix’s Cobain’s Stranger Things .

“Nicola is a true leader in every sense of the word and certainly deserves this wonderful award,” said Herszberg.

In , Shindler forms his own with the support of ITV Studios The company Quay Street Productions. The company’s first feature, Nolly, is a limited series about the rise and fall of British soap opera star Noel Gordon, written by Russell T. Davies of It’s a Sin, Helena Bonham starring Carter took a bow on ITVX in the UK last month. Upcoming series include comedy-dramaSignificant Other, starring Katherine Parkinson and Youssef Kerkour, also for ITVX Out, after the deluge aired on ITV, Harlan Coben’s Fool Me Once for Netflix, the feature-length drama Men Up for the BBC.

Before launching Quay Street, Shindler was in 2021 founded RED Production Company, which she led for over 17 years. She was also previously CEO and Chief Creative Officer of StudioCanal UK.
