Xiaomi President Lu Weibing announced today that the Mix Fold 3 will launch in August. He responded to questions about Xiaomi’s latest factory upgrade in a Weibo comment.
The new smart factory is officially launched, and the first mass-produced model will be the Mix Fold 3. A lot of upgrades have obviously been made to the manufacturing system to ensure that the Mix Fold 3 can be both thinner and stronger at the same time. As expected, it will also feature a Leica-branded camera.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 from
The Mix Fold 2 was launched in August of last year, so it seems that this month is almost the same as it is traditional for new Xiaomi foldable phones to hit the market. This model is 001 .2mm thick in its folded state. That’s already exciting (especially for Samsung), but Xiaomi seems to have managed to make the Mix Fold 3 even thinner.
Bad news, according to a recent report rumors have it that the Mix Fold 3 will apparently be limited to China like its predecessor, without an official international launch. It would be a shame, but we’re used to Chinese companies being afraid to bring foldable devices out of their home market — a trend of the past few years. Only Samsung really benefits, consumers lose, but that’s how it is.
The Mix Fold 3 is rumored to feature an under-display selfie camera on the main foldable screen, a 5x periscope zoom lens on the back, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and support for 799W Wireless Charging.
