Jamie Lee Curtis enjoyed a celebratory moment before taking the stage at Comic-Con in San Diego on Friday to promote Mother Nature , her first graphic novel addressing the forces responsible for climate change.

“I saw this book in print for the first time two hours ago,” said Curtis, who joined her co-author Russell Goldman and artist Karl Stevens on stage. “I’ve seen it in PDF and it’s very exciting.” She wasted no time emphasizing the project’s ecological message: “We’re manipulating the world. The possibility of change exists, but we have to, and I’m really happy to see how enthusiastic you are about the beautiful work Carl has produced for us.”

Featuring plenty of gruesome violence, Nature launched August 8th from Titans Comics and centers on Catch Creek, New Mexico resident Nova Terrell as she seeks revenge on an evil oil company linked to her father’s death. Curtis explained that she initially told her husband, Christopher Guest, that she had an idea for a screenplay, and he encouraged her to write it herself. Ultimately, the project’s team decided to present it as a graphic novel. This marks the first time Curtis, the New York Times

bestselling author and soon to

a new children’s book , has worked as a creator in the medium.

While taking office, Curtis noted that the timing of the project was right given the extreme weather that much of the country has recently experienced. “That’s what happened today!” she exclaimed. “This week we had the hottest week ever in this country. I mean, talk about good timing. Let’s be honest, we can’t talk about more important things.” “I’m not preaching,” the Halloween actress said. “I don’t care which side you’re on. It’s happening and there are things we can do to improve it and try to stop it, pardon the pun. Bad things are happening, so it feels absolutely right now.” won its first Oscar earlier this year. “The greatest moments are things that I never foresee — my family, my personal life, my work,” she said. “如果你认为我看到迪尔德丽·博贝尔德来了。 如果你认为我坐在那里思考,’嗯,我们将在 天内在加利福尼亚州西米谷制作一部小独立电影,耗资 万美元,而且我们最终都会赢得奥斯卡奖,’你们都是疯子。”

在座谈会上,柯蒂斯没有谈到正在进行的演员罢工,这使得演员们无法在动漫展上宣传他们的表演作品。 Labor disputes involving SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild meant this year’s symposium was largely devoid of the big names and well-known faces that typically excite crowds and lead to long queues at major events.
