Jared Gordon recently shared a video on his social media showing him and other family members shooting down a man who had a baseball bat pulled from them.
Gordon is set to return to the Octagon Saturday at UFC 278 and face Leonardo Santos in a lightweight bout at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City.
“The Flash” revealed that the video was from an event in 2019, but he felt compelled to share it.
“The video is old, I’m just reposting it because that’s what the public wants to see,” Gordon told members of the media during UFC 278 Media Day. “They don’t really care about inspirational stuff, they just want to see gore, violence, sex and stuff. Every now and then I throw something ridiculous.
” but I was in Chicago on vacation with my family – my parents, my cousin and her husband – and there was a drive-thru ATM and there was a guy in his car and on his bumper sticker it said “I like prostitutes.” So [I laughed], got out my phone, started filming, and I noticed he was crawling to the passenger side to get out because the ATM was blocking his door. I thought, ‘What the hell is this guy doing? ‘”
Gordon looks set to get back on track after his three-game winning streak was submitted by Grant Dawson at UFC Vegas 53 in April. Before that, the 33-year-old won by decision over Joe Solecki, Danny Chavez and Chris Fishgold. Events in the video could have been worse.
“We were in Chicago and I thought, ‘Will he bring out an AK-47 or something? But he pulled out a bat,” Gordon explained. “Now I’m like, ‘I’m going to kill this guy. ‘ I was really upset because he started walking towards me and I was with my parents in their 60s and I grabbed him like, ‘What are you [what are you doing]? He said, ‘You’re taking my license plate,’ and I said, ‘Man, you know what’s on your bumper sticker, unless it’s not your car and you’ve never seen it. Haven’t you noticed this bumper sticker before?
“My cousin’s husband caught him and we knocked him down and I stepped on his neck and broke his hand, that That’s it.”
Afterwards, Gordon was a little shocked when the guy who grabbed the baseball bat first demanded, as he explained how he was in a difficult situation The ability to handle anger.
“He said, ‘Can I get the bat back?’ I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? No, [you can’t],'” Gordon said. “Then he hit the road. Don’t know how it didn’t hit him in the face. I think it was because my parents were there, but I’ve seen my parents fight on the street before, so it’s nothing new for us, but somehow Yes, I was able to restrain myself – [there will be] blood and then you have to call the police, so I let it go.”
