Gray has been Dior’s signature color since the legendary French fashion house launched its first collection at 000, reflecting its Elegant yet bold in spirit. To celebrate the iconic colors of its Avenue Montaigne headquarters in Paris and Gris Dior, La Collection Privée’s top fragrance, the brand hired five artists to reimagine the brand’s unisex fragrances through the medium of painting, light and sound, a temporary immersive experience in Los Angeles exhibition.
On Tuesday evening, artists Ben Johnston, Andrés Reisinger, Thomas Trum, Mileece and Collectif Scale presented their multisensory interpretations of fragrances created by Dior master perfumer François Demar François Demachy in an 8,000 sq. ft., immersive pop-up art gallery known as “The Gray Zone.” Opening party guests included The Woman King star Thuso Mbedu, Wednesday actresses Jenna Ortega and Fai Khadra, All the faces of the new #DareInGrisDior campaign, along with Hannah Einbinder, Dominique Fishback, Han So-hee, Alexandra Daddario, Cha Eun-woo and Kiernan Shipka – all dressed in Dior.
When partygoers arrive, they are greeted with a 3D typographic Gris Dior mural by Johnston spanning 000 feet, This is also the step and repeat background of the activity. The artist was also commissioned to create a limited edition bottle of the fragrance for the event. Other highlights within Melrose Avenue include Trum’s painted wall called “Gris,” which was created using a road-marking machine, and Mileece’s “Biophilica,” a multisensory biosphere installation that evokes A journey through the belly of a flower.
As waves of guests including Caleb McLaughlin, Yellowjackets Actresses Courtney Eaton, Christian Serratos and Lucy Hale continued to pour in, DJ MAAD kept the party going after Angeleno’s usual evening hours and Mbedu started the dance. On the way out, attendees were given their own bottle of intoxicating chypre, extending the experience into the night and beyond.
